Drug Addictions with Kids

Many drug addiction problems begin at birth or in early life. Addictive nature can sometimes be traced to the gene level. Other aspects of addiction are learned. Kids often find the worst end of this, and in the long run, wind up with a lifelong problem as a result since it begins long before they have many answers in life.

Often combined with the desire to get away from reality as well as genetic pre-disposition combined with learned behaviors, some kids are extremely prone to drug addiction. This includes the drug called alcohol.

Many of these children can be spotted and helped prior. Often they suffer from low self esteem, depression, feelings of worthlessness, and many other self-negative feelings. It’s human nature to find a way out of these. Either real truths or things creating a fantasy picture will do. At a young age it’s easy to confuse the two.

It makes it real easy to become addicted to drugs as up front, they may very well make those abusing them feel everything has become better and that the drug is the key to this. It is a false feeling, but also the beginning of many worse things to come as it can appear so real.

Most addictions have several aspects in common, the number one being the chronic compulsion to continue some activity. Whether it is to drink, get high or whatever, there will be an almost instinctive reaction of repeating it over and over again. Children by nature, tend to be a little compulsive in nature in general. Most learn beyond it. It will often be seen in many innocent ways prior to drugs for those that are prone to drug addiction.

In the beginning for most drug addicts, it will often seem fun for them, and definitely different from the usual reality. They get to revolt slightly with something that seems harmless. Often this is what really hooks young minds on something they grow to depend on. Some during the first time and others may take a few times, depending on the drug at hand, though some are definitely pre-disposed to addiction. Others will repel and never do it again.

To prevent this possible problem in your children, you need to educate them along with the schools methods, and reinforce that they should say “No”. The more they hear this the more they are likely to do so under peer pressure.

When it comes to kids and drug addiction, it’s extremely wise to pay attention to your children, their emotional changes, and daily interactions. If there is an extreme change over a short period, you should definitely be busy finding out why.

Children are often influenced as much at school and elsewhere as they are at home. They want to be a part of it all. Sometimes they will feel to be a part of they have to be willing to do anything that is done in these places.

This is what you are up against.
